Character Requirements for the Heart Key

Attempting to search for the Heart Key while playing as Leon will lead to frustration, as it never spawns in his storyline. Players controlling Claire will naturally encounter the key as part of her primary progression path. Reaching Chief Irons' Private Collection Room
To acquire the key, Claire must first reach Chief Brian Irons' office on the second floor of the police station. Accessing this area requires taking the elevator up from the underground Parking Garage after retrieving the required keycard. Once inside the Chief's Office, locate the door leading further into his private displays.
Follow the walkway through the taxidermy collection until you enter the Private Collection Room. Positioned near the back of this room on a side table is a decorative artwork piece known as the Relief Portrait. Interacting with this object is the key step to claiming your item.
Extracting the Heart Key from the Relief
Once you pick up the Lovers Relief from the table, open your inventory screen. Select the item and choose the inspect option to rotate the frame. Turning the portrait around to view its back reveals the Heart Key embedded inside the casing.
Examine the back of the frame closely to interact with it and remove the key. The Heart Key will then be placed directly into your inventory slots. You can now safely exit the room and begin unlocking heart-marked doors across the facility.
