How to Start the Quest in Irondale
To begin this side quest, travel to the small hamlet of Irondale located in the Feldcroft region. Locate Padraic Haggarty standing behind his vendor stall, where he will express distress over mysterious thefts happening after dark. Speaking with him triggers the assignment to investigate the missing items and identify the culprit.
Before you can begin tracking, you must ensure that it is nighttime in the game world. If you arrive during the day, open your main map and use the wait function to advance time to nightfall. Once darkness settles, return to the vendor stall to look for clues left behind by the intruder.
Tracking the Trail of Galleons
Cast Revelio near Padraic's shop to highlight a trail of shiny gold coins scattered on the ground. These coins form a clear path leading away from the hamlet toward the surrounding hills. Follow the trail carefully, using Revelio repeatedly whenever the coin trail becomes difficult to spot in the dark.
The trail will lead you across fields and up rocky terrain toward a nearby cliffside hideout. Keep your eye on the ground as you move, as straying too far from the trail might cause you to lose sight of your objective. Eventually, the coins lead directly into a hidden den packed with shiny stolen goods.
Discovering the Niffler Den
Upon reaching the destination, you will discover that the thief is actually a wild Niffler hoarding shiny objects. The creature has gathered piles of gold and family heirlooms inside its cozy cliffside lair. To complete your objective, equip your Nab-Sack spell and carefully capture the Niffler to secure the area.
Search the top of the shiny coin pile within the den to retrieve the stolen Haggarty family heirloom. Capturing the creature and recovering the lost item fulfills all key requirements for completing the mission. Once you have both the beast and the heirloom, prepare to make your trip back to Irondale.
Returning to Padraic Haggarty
Travel back to Irondale and present the recovered heirloom to Padraic at his stall. You can choose to return the heirloom unconditionally or request a small financial reward for your trouble. Completing the quest rewards you with experience points and a special appearance item for your gear collection.
